Almaden Valley Children’s Therapy Center (AVCTC) is a boutique pediatric occupational therapy clinic in San Jose that provides an intimate and tailored approach to supporting your child’s mind and body development so that they are better able to manage their complex emotions, cope with the sometimes overwhelming demands of their environment and participate successfully in their daily lives as independently as possible. We strive to give our parents and caregivers the tools and resources they need to better understand their child in order to support them as they grow. Additionally, we believe in providing the same level of support to our therapists through ongoing mentorship and continuing education.

complementary screenings
Schedule a free 15-minute phone screening with one of our expert clinicians to discuss your areas of concern. Our goal for the screening is to determine if an assessment is appropriate, ensure that we are the best fit to meet your child’s needs and answer your questions about our process. We recognize how overwhelming it can feel to figure out how to begin the process of getting your child help. We are here to make that a little less confusing.
Comprehensive Therapy Evaluations
We believe that the best way to help your child is to truly understand the underlying challenges that are getting in the way of success. As such, we recommend completing a thorough evaluation. As occupational therapists, it is our job to not just identify functional concerns (i.e. difficulty cutting) but to understand and address the why. We are always asking ourselves why is a task hard and what can we do to improve the underlying deficit?
Individualized OT Services
We do not believe in one sized fits all approaches. We take many factors into account when determining how to support your child. For example, research shows that incorporating an intensive model is the most effective however we recognize that this approach is often not possible for all families for various reasons. We work with you to come up with a plan that fits with your priorities.
